Sr. Analyst, Transportation
We are seeking an experienced Sr. Analyst, Transportation for a 2-month temporary assignment for our client
Location: Fountain Valley, CA (onsite)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Pay: $33-$40
Type: Contract 2 months+
Role Overview
The Sr. Transportation Analyst is responsible for managing transportation data, analyzing freight costs, supporting RFQ/RFP processes, and maintaining key databases. This role validates shipment and cost data, prepares regular reporting, identifies cost-saving opportunities, and serves as the department's subject matter expert for Access database functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and create transportation databases; analyze inbound and outbound freight expenses.
- Update funding documents and internal Access databases.
- Provide weekly and monthly freight cost trend analysis and summary reporting.
- Recommend carrier or transportation mode adjustments to support KPIs.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and advise freight auditors.
- Run and distribute monthly dealer activity reports.
- Act as SME for industry benchmarking data.
- Pull and analyze data from internal systems for reporting and special projects.
- Provide monthly freight spending forecasts for Finance.
- Maintain carrier files, including insurance and rate updates.
- Administer the carrier/vendor RFP process and prepare cost comparisons.
- Collaborate with IT to improve data processes.
- Prepare ad hoc reports, presentations, and cost studies as needed.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field
Experience
- Minimum 5 years in logistics-related functions (freight rates, auditing, carrier operations)
- Minimum 3 years in analysis/data mining, ideally within automotive logistics or warehouse operations
Skills
- Strong working knowledge of SQL and QMF
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Intermediate MS Access skills (tables, queries, macros, forms)
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Experience importing and handling data from mainframe sources
